Entry to La Liga
Juan Cucurella made his official debut for Real Madrid against Espanyol, coming on in the 64th minute for Carreras. Before kickoff, the defender saw the affection the Espanyol fans had for him.
Fans’ Reaction
When the megaphone announced Real Madrid’s players, all were cheered except Cucurella. The left‑back received an ovation for being a World Cup champion with Spain and for having been developed in the blanquiazul academy.
Memories of His Espanyol Spell
Cucurella moved from the Alella futsal team to Espanyol at the age of six. He stayed with the club until the 2012‑13 season, when Barcelona signed him for their youth setup. The player recalls that "when I moved to Barça it wasn’t easy, because I left many friends; Espanyol was the team that gave me my first opportunity and I felt bad", but he also thought it was a step for his future.
The left‑back has not forgotten his time at Espanyol, and the Perican fans have not forgotten him either, as shown by the ovation they gave him before the match began.
