RCD Espanyol's B team is facing the start of the 2026-2027 season with structural problems in the squad and without an official coach. The club will announce in the coming days Sergio García, current coach of the Spanish under-17 team, whose signing has not been finalized before due to contractual reasons.

What has happened?

The sports management, with Monchi and Marco Otero, has worked on a squad of around 30 players, with the presence of players from the subsidiary, Vilassar de Mar and Juvenil A, a figure that has been reduced with the departures of members of the Maresme team and the Perico subsidiary.

What changes are expected?

The cleanup has been notable, especially among players without a future, according to professionals. On the other hand, they promote to the subsidiary profiles like Kaprivin, Lucas Alves, Jan Moreno, Víctor Mullerat or Denis Cruz, in addition to the promising 'Polli'.

What comes next?

The club will also have to manage loans with the new regulations and define the future of players like Leo Salazar, Miguel Londoño or Ferran Gómez –with several seasons in the second team and without a prominent presence in the first team–. Additionally, captain Catalá is expected to leave, while others have already left the Perico discipline.
