RCD Espanyol paid tribute to José María Sánchez Rodilla, one of the club's greatest legends, in an emotional ceremony held at the RCDE Stadium. The event, organized by the RCDE Foundation and the club, brought together representatives of the Board of Directors, former players, family members, and fans to recognize Rodilla's career and legacy. The forward, who played for Espanyol from 1964 to 1971, was part of the mythical 'Cinco Delfines' forward line, alongside Carmelo Amas, Marcial Pina, José María, and Re. The ceremony began with a close and emotional conversation between Rodilla and Rafa Marañón, the club's councilor, which allowed them to relive memories and anecdotes from a generation that left a mark on the club's history. A video tribute was then projected, highlighting some of the most notable episodes of Rodilla's career. The attendees also enjoyed audiovisual messages from former teammates and friends like Carmelo Amas, José María, and Marcial Pina, who wanted to join in the recognition from a distance. During the event, Manuel Fernández Osorio, who passed away a few days ago, was also remembered as a fellow generation member and part of the historic 'Cinco Delfines' team. José María Sánchez Rodilla received institutional gifts from the Board of Directors and the RCDE Foundation as a token of appreciation for his contribution to the club's history. The honoree delivered an emotional speech of gratitude to the attendees. The event concluded with a speech by the RCDE Foundation's president, Antoni Fernàndez Teixidó, and a final photo shoot with family members, former players, and institutional representatives, accompanied by a message projected on the screen: 'Gràcies, Rodilla'.
