Utebo Signs an Ex-Espanyol and Real Zaragoza Player Ahead of Boltaña Match: 'Youth, Projection, and Talent'

Ibai Gómez's team will debut in their pre-season preparations by facing Utebo (18.30) in an Aragon derby. The squad led by Javier Suárez already played and won a training match against the Deportivo Aragón last weekend.

Before facing Real Zaragoza, Utebo has officially signed David Santiago, a defender who comes from Espanyol's youth system. The Aragonese player was free this summer after five years in the perica structure and returns to his homeland after leaving the Real Zaragoza academy seeking a step up in his development.

"Youth, projection, and talent, formed in the Espanyol youth academy and coming from UE Vilassar de Mar, where he was one of the key pieces last season. Welcome to your new home David," announced Utebo's signing on social media.

The defender was captain of UE Vilassar de Mar last season in Tercera RFEF and will take another step up in his career competing in Segunda RFEF.

A Very Ex-Zaragocista Utebo

David Santiago, who did not make Javier Suárez's squad for Boltaña, is not the only player on Utebo's roster that has passed through Real Zaragoza's training ground. Dani Lasure, Jorge Adán, Diego Suárez, and David Aparicio are some of the players who have been part of the club's structure in their careers and even some reached first-team status not long ago.
