RCD Espanyol will benefit financially from the recent transfer of Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid. The left-back, who was playing for Chelsea, has been signed by the white club for a total of €55 million. This transfer not only benefits Chelsea but also activates FIFA's solidarity mechanism, which allows training clubs to receive a portion of the transfer fee. Cucurella, 27, went through the youth ranks of RCD Espanyol before joining FC Barcelona at the age of 14. According to this mechanism, 5% of the total transfer amount is distributed among the clubs that trained the player between the ages of 12 and 23. Therefore, RCD Espanyol is entitled to at least 0.5% of that amount, translating to approximately €275,000. This figure could increase if certain performance-related objectives tied to the €5 million in variables agreed upon between Real Madrid and Chelsea are met.
